How to properly "clear" tasks?

When I click "Clear completed tasks" in gmail, that task disappears, but is still visible when I click "View completed tasks". When I'm using Geetasks (Pro; with a Google Apps account FWIW), clicking "Purge" DOES remove the completed items (as expected), but those items do not seem available under "View completed tasks" in gmail. Is there any way to "clear" the items properly, so they "survive" in gmail?
